LM datasheet, LM datasheets, manuals for LM electornic semiconductor part
Hi, I started planning a mod on my old console and I wanted to find an IC opamp that can run on a single supply voltage I want to do a balancing circuit for the direct outs. Something similar to what Audiox did with NE Is it noisy, frequency impaired or something like that? I haven’t seen many designs using it?
Should I use it? Let’s look the data sheet, if it looks right there it’s time to breadboard. Some unbalance at input impedance but nothing to be alarmed for your application, as input device may not be so cool. THD at 60dB gain 0.
I never understood quite well the single supply thing on opamps, usually your opamps don’t refer anything to ground, I mean, there isn’t any pin from it connected to ground, so it knows if it has a dual or single rails.
Then, always, in “low distortion” audio applications “” because we are not trying to archive 0. There are other things that usually are associated with datxsheet which is good to appear on the data sheet, for example daasheet beyond the rails or rail to rail output, or one rail inside or close to the output range which are useful to know, but single supply, dual supply?

I’ve seen wired things with this though, but nobody says so in the data sheet, for example, lower offset working input voltage close to lower rail than at the mid point, but that’s not a good thing, I would prefer having all the time the worst case offset in most applications, at dataheet than this, this implies a daatasheet unlinearity and baaad CMRR! If I don’t know how it works, I prefer don’t turn it on.
It was an OK part for back then, but I am surprised they still sell them. I would suggest using something more modern, lm87 part was designed to operate at high gain not stable llm387 10x with small input voltages, and nominal input voltage DC biased internally. JohnRoberts on September 06, LM is a penny easier because it has a bias voltage built-in, so you can set the output around half-supply.
But two 10K resistors and a 47u cap do the same. It also has sad output power. It is made to drive one 10K volume control in the same box, not long wires, multiple loads, etc. Agree that ‘ should be your go-to in this case.
Everything you listen to has been through multiple ‘s. Sorry for not replying back after I datashedt this thread. Flu got me pretty seriously! Thanks for your wise replies!
I’m an enthusiast without proper background education in electronics so I’m chewing this slowly.
